I'm in the XR6, hubby is driving. As I scan the interior of the car, I see the controls are easy to operate, they don't look cheap and nasty- quite pleasing on the eye really. The ipod thingy- its there, simple plug and play( I don't have CD's any more so I don't care much for the CD player or stacker option). There are a few storage compartments and drink holders 2 in the front of course and 2 in the back, they are inside the arm rest. Do you know how you get gaps in the car where crumbs, pens, 5c coins and THINGS just fall into, well I have that in the BMW- I'm not sure if it can happen with the ford, it seems very seamless- who knows with clean new cars. The boot was larger than what I'm use to and although bizzare and a bit of a head scratcher, the 'dip' in the boot. I could just see the shopping sitting in there and not rolling around in the back. Well thats my idea for it.
So now its my turn to drive, the seat height is electronically adjustable- cool, and the steering wheel can go up and down as well as in and out- thats ok. As I'm driving along it feels very smooth to drive the steering feels like I'm in tune with the car. There wasn't too much body roll either, this is good for around the town driving. Brakes, well the car stopped when I needed it too and without any dramas. The one thing I hated was not being able to see the end of the bonnet, I just feel more comfortable seeing the front how far out my nose is. But I suppose the most disappointing part is the amount of air bags or lack of. For a car within my budget there were 4 of them only 4. The captiva had double.
THE GOOD- great range of colours, comfortable ride, nice lines, great interior, spacious, easy controls to operate, ipod connectivity
THE BAD- LACK of air bags, no rear parking sensor (there could be options).
So if you're looking for a sedan in this price range with a growing family(as in growing up) and safety is your main priority then I would probably steer away (ha ha) from this car, but don't write it off completely. Next vehicle Holden SV6. See you then.
